The Mid-Autumn Festival is also called the Moon Festival or the Mooncake Festival. It traditionally falls on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar, which is in September or early October on the Gregorian calendar.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is the second most important festival in China after the Chinese New Year. Chinese people celebrate it by gathering for dinners, worshipping the moon, lighting paper lanterns, eating mooncakes, etc.

It is a pleasant time. Many Chinese people send e-cards or short messages during the festival to express their best wishes to family and friends. The most popular greeting is ‘Happy Mid-Autumn Festival’, and also the famous saying:

‘So let us wish that man will live long as he can!
Though miles apart, we’ll share the beauty she displays.’

中秋节又称中秋节或月饼节。传统上是农历八月十五日，也就是公历的九月或十月初。
中秋节是中国仅次于春节的第二大节日。中国人通过聚餐、拜月、点纸灯笼、吃月饼等方式来庆祝佳节。

中秋节是美好愉快的时光。许多中国人在节日期间发送电子贺卡或短信，向家人和朋友表达最良好的祝愿。最流行的问候是“中秋节快乐”，还有那句名言“但愿人长久，千里共婵娟”。
